Hello!
There were some real big challenges for me this week, but I want to share some good things that happened!
First, I got to go to the temple!!! It was such a special experience. There was one point where I could see both of my siblings and my parents all sitting next to me, and I was overwhelmed with happiness. I only cried a few tears.
Second, in class one elder ended his prayer with "..wait what was that? oh yeah.. I love you guys...amor...and my futuro esposa...amen" and I was dying with laughter. The combination of the broken spanish and the fact that he just threw in his future wife killed me.
Lastly, I got to listen to an AWESOME devotional by President Ballard and Elder Holland. I took 3 pages of notes because every word out of their mouths was like "woah! boom! wham! inspiration!" I'd like to share the best thing I learned. And it might be long so if the only people who read it are my grandparents, that's okay;) Consistently in their remarks President Ballard and Elder Holland emphasized how precious every moment on our mission is. How we should maximize every second and opportunity we have to represent Jesus Christ! This really got me. Unfortunately, in my life, quitting/taking breaks has never really bothered me. Leg workout too hard? I don't mind doing 3 sets instead of 5. Lungs hurt after 10 minutes of running? I don't mind taking a walk break. This isn't a good habit I have. I know that when I ran xc in high school, after the races where I took a walk break or didn't push very hard I would always think, "why did I do that? I could've pushed harder." And I don't want this to happen to my mission (or really ever again)! Because I know I will be disappointed if I look back on my mission (or at the end of this life) and think "man, why didn't I work harder? why wasn't I more focused?" I know I will have time to rest after my mission. I will have time to take naps and read books and worry about friends. But right now I need to work hard. And honestly! 18 months is not that long! I can totally push myself for 18 or however many months I get. During our workouts Mallory used to tell me "anyone can do anything for 20 seconds." And I used to tell Maylee when life got hard "worst case scenario, we have 80 more years of a hard life." In respect to eternity, that's practically 20 seconds here on earth! So anyway, I wanted to say to you all as my witnesses that I'm going to work hard. My lungs are probably going to burn but I'm going to keep running...figuratively speaking.
Love you all! Keep learning and growing and loving and working hard and all the things.
