Ms. Frizzle

Hello! I hope all is well at home, I'm doing super great in good old Rosenburg. It RAINED. We went on a walk and it was like taking a second shower! My hair is crazzzzzy. Hence the subject line.

Thanksgiving was good! The turkey hasn't caused any problems. My comp and I got put in a mini quarantine which was a bummer:( Unfortunately Hna Tuttle tested positive a couple days ago and since I spent the night with her when we got here we had to stay in quarantine for 3 days. (Because when she tested positive, I had seen her 11 days before.) But luckily it ends today and we've been symptom free and healthy! But unluckily we had to miss a cool training. But all is well. I'm super happy to be here! My companion and i have grown a lot closer together and we're having a good time serving the Lord. I think I'll be able to call today, but it might have to be from my companions phone again. We'll see.

Love you!
Hermana Eastman

Hello everyone!
No time.
I'll give a couple of highlights because there's no way to share it all.

It RAINED. And I love it. Guys my hair is like some crazy mermaid awesomeness. When we go one walks it's like taking a second shower. I could legit wash my hair in the rain. One day we were kinda bummed and so we went to get pizza and it was pouringggggg rain. So when Hermana Tea rolled down the window to get our pizza a FOUNTAIN of water poured into the car and she got soaked hahahaha!
It rained for a solid 3 days and the wood in our barn got swollen so our bathroom door couldn't even shut hahah. Hna Tea and I definitely bonded as a companionship this week lol.

Learned how to check my oil. So I'm pretty much an adult what can I say.

Oh yeah Thanksgiving! It was bomb! My companion is seriously amazing and she cooked an apple pie and a TWENTY POUND TURKEY. Such a superwoman. We had to defrost it in a bucket of water so for like 2 days we had a 20lb turkey in our shower. Awesome.

Alright spirituality.. we had a bomb devotional! Brother Halverson, an institute teacher at UofU spoke to us and I seriously was jumping up and down in the apartment I was so excited to be a missionary. My main takeaway was that questions are okay. Honestly they're beautiful. Doubt is okay too! But doubt is comfortable. We can't just stay doubt in order to avoid change. The beautiful thing about this gospel is that we have resources to answer questions! #TheSpirit!!! If you have questions or doubts you're struggling with, reach out! To trusted friends, family, missionaries (!!) and most importantly the Lord. He is Amazing. Strive to be good. Be kind to people. Honestly, kind words are so much better than rude ones.

Love y'all
Hna Eastman

Hola/Howdy

Hola from Texas! That's right y'all I'm in Texas. So much has happened this week it's insane so I'll just give a couple highlights.
I'm in a small town called Rosenburg and I live in a barn.. literally. It's awesome.
My companion is Hermana Tea and she's the bomb! My favorite quote from her so far is "my favorite childhood toy was a shovel."
I get to speak spanish and it's the best thing ever!! Except everyone speaks so fast and so quiet I have to use all my brain power to understand them Haha. We serve in a little branch and share it with some elders. They are super fun and they love avatar the last airbender so we get along just fine.
Texas is so pretty and green! It feels like June weather here and it's so humid that my hair has turned into a curly frizzy mess. Absolutely love it!
The day I got here us newbies got to go to the Astros ballpark because my mission President is seriously the coolest person ever. GUYS i got to go in the diamond club members lounge, ON THE FIELD, and IN THE DUGOUT!!! I almost cried it was so cool. I don't have pictures right now of that but I'll get them soon.
The members we live with cooked us some steak the other night and they were massive.
Missionary work is awesome! I love already seeing people's progress and desire to learn.
One of my favorite moments this week was when we were teaching one of our friends and the branch president came with us(super cool dude) and while our friend was saying the opening prayer she pauses.. turns to the branch President and says "I forgot your name what's your name?" He quietly says "fransisco" and she quickly goes back into the prayer with "ah thank you God for fransisco." Hahah I was dying of laughter.
Also a cockroach flew into my companions hair while she was teaching about the Great Apostasy hahahahaha. I saw it slowly crawl on the top of her head and everyone in the room just went silent. She tried to be super chill about it and casually brushed it off but she accidentally just brushed it into her lap. So then she freaked out a little and flicked it off and the lady we were with smacked it with a shoe. Thank goodness I was wearing a mask because I couldn't keep myself from laughing it was so funny.
Anyway that's a couple of snippets. I don't know how to share more without making this email a novel. Haha.
Oh man I almost forgot! I rode a bike this week! It was so fun! I haven't crashed yet but I'm honestly looking forward to it because I think that's so funny hahah.  So stay tuned.

Let me know if you need anything or want to know more about Texas!
Love y'all
Hermana Eastman
(Or you can call me Hermana Easton because the Hispanic people cannot say my name so they just compromise with Easton haha)
(The pink mask pic is my reaction to the nasty massive bug)

Hello! I figured I would write to you together since that would be easier for me. I'm in Texas! I think I belong here. My hair is seriously and awesome frizzy curly mess and my hands are so soft! I might've already gotten a little sunburn (sorry mom) it feels like June here. I'm in Rosenburg Texas! It's a little southwest of Houston. My address is __________ Rosenburg, TX 77471. (Also you can send packages here because it's a house! So that'll be nice for the next 2 transfers while I'm here)
So much has happened this week I don't even know where to start. I've written so much kn my journal so at least I have a record of it all. Well my mission President is the best person ever! He's such a good man and a great example! And he signed your ball Dad! Super cool dude. I got to interview with him and I felt like I am in good hands. He and his wife are so kind and faithful. I've already told you but the Astros park was literally so cool! The diamond members club was awesome. And the director of the park is friends with President Guthrie (of course) and he said that if you guys pick me up he'll give you a legit tour of the whole park! So pretty sweet. Cool dude.
My companion is Hermana Tea! She's from pocatello Idaho. She's spent most of her mission in quarantine so we're learning something together. We serve in a branch here and share the branch with Spanish elders. They're super cool! We see them all the time so I'm grateful that they're fun.
Oh also we live in a barn Haha! It's awesome! I don't have any pictures but it's a literal barn in someone's backyard. It's super nice though. There are like 4 households who live on this property.
We teach English class which is super fun, but only two people come. The branch missionary and his wife. They're super cool. Apparently he's a beekeeper and they gave us some honey!
I'll share one highlight and one lowlight and then I'll send some pictures(the ugly ones that only VIPs get).
Highlight: two of the people we are teaching came to church! Woohoo! They are both great and each have their own needs and challenges.
Lowlight: we haven't had much success finding new people to teach. We can't knock on doors so we just walk around neighborhoods and pray for referrals.
Oh also, I don't have access to Facebook yet because there are some trainings I need to do but I should have it next week and then I can video chat over messenger. But I can still call you on the phone today.
Love you guys!

Heading to Houston

Hermana Eastman left for her missionary service in Houston.  She had these two traveling companions, Hermana Coppinger and Hermana Tuttle.

The day before leaving, Lana and Rod Davis, brought her a generous money gift and these t-shirts that her son designed when he was on his mission.

The Sun Has Gone to Houston and So Must I

Hi!
This is my last pday before I get to go to Houston!! I leave on Monday!
I got to meet my mission president over zoom this week and I'm so excited to meet him in person! He's the coolest. He told us we'll never see snow and there will be so much rain. So good thing I have rain boots:) He also said he would sign a baseball for my dad:)) merry christmas dad

Yes I am nervous to actually go out and do missionary work, glad you asked! I'm nervous to leave my home haha. BUT I know that my mission is where I'm supposed to be. I can't wait to meet the people in Houston that the Lord wants me to meet. AND apparently sometimes missionaries get to tour NASA down there so I'm pumped!! I told some elders in my class that I was nervous and they gave me the nicest pep talk. The thing he said that I want to share with you is "keep the commandments; prosper in the land" boom! It's all over the place in the scriptures, and it's true for all of us. "Prosper" might not be what you think it should be, but I know the Lord blesses those who trust Him.

Also! Guys! Guess what! I actually tried super hard in our gym class this week lol! I did like 50 pushups, no joke. I just channeled my inner Rocky and pretended like I had to train the hardest I ever had haha. It was so funny.

Last thing, I just want to invite you guys to tell the people you love that you love them. You can show love lots of ways, but the words are good too. I recommend it.

bye!

Book of Mormon Stories

Hello! It's Hermana Eastman, welcome to my crib.
Yesterday I decided I want to study what actually happened in the Book of Mormon! A novel idea, I know haha but I realized I don't know the actual history very well. Where did the Jaredites come from? Eh, I'm a little iffy. Who fought all those wars and why? Beats me. But I'm learning! Just yesterday I learned so much! And I'm making a little chart to help myself learn! It makes me excited! I wasn't a great student in my Book of Mormon class at BYU so now it's like I'm in my own personal Book of Mormon class! I think when I understand more of the story, I'll appreciate all the spiritual goodness even more.

The Lord has been teaching me how to be kind and patient this week and I'm so thankful. You never know what people are going through! So why not be kind? Like all the time!

I love dressing up for Halloween (so much) so I was a ghost for a second and also a super cool monster that I made in like 2 minutes during companionship study but I'm not going to share the pictures my companion took lol. I look like I'm in a middle school production of Sesame Street.

I have 12 more days before I ship off to Houston! Can you believe it! I certainly can because I've been waiting for this for months! I'm going to get some cowboy boots.

I love you!
peace out girl scout
